It was nice to see many of you in New Orleans where we featured the Honeysuckle Sweet Red Onion. We had a great conversation about plant breeding, biotechnology, and food and nutrition security.

Next up: Chicago for the Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo™. Find us at booth 1820 where we will spotlight farm moms and conversations about food and farming.

Meet the Farm Moms

Ann Stamp—2016 NE Region Winner
Ann is the mother to eight children, all of whom she homeschooled, while co-managing the farm with her husband Bill. Her focus on the farm is running the season enterprise of greenhouses and managing sales and expenses from over 100 acres of sweet corn, pumpkins and squash.

Ann earned her degree from Cornell University in Plant Science and Horticulture. She has always had a passion for agricultural education and has presented to classrooms introducing children and adults alike to the cycles of farm life, production of crops and livestock. Her support of agriculture is apparent through her involvement in American Farm Bureau. From attending local town meetings to advocacy on a statewide level, Anne continues to support agriculture to ensure that this beloved form of livelihood is still around for future generations to come.

Becca Ferry—2017 SW Region Winner
Becca is a city-raised girl, former elementary teacher and mother of five who embraced her husband’s family farm life. Becca’s passion for agriculture is evident when she enters an elementary classroom to read a farm book, and to explain how agriculture benefits them. Annually, Becca discusses wheat with over 1,000 students at the county Farm Days.

Becca serves on her county Farm Bureau and on the state Farm Bureau Agricultural Promotions Committee. She was the state Farm Bureau “Discussion Meet” winner, discussing issues such as GMOs and public vs. private lands. She also travels frequently to Washington D.C. to meet with members of Congress and is actively engaged locally on issues impacting the industry.
